La desconfianza del consumidor ha obligado a los comerciantes de sandías a cortarlas y verlas por dentro para comprobar que estén maduras y bien rojas. La sandía calada es una forma de intercambio transparente para consumir y evitar ser engañado.

The lack of trust from the consumers forced the traders to cut a piece out of the watermelons to show the inside of the fruit and prove its ripeness and color was good. The “cut out watermelon” is a transparent way of trade that prevents being cheated when buying and consuming the fruit.
